Excessive settlement cracking and insufficient cover for a bridge in Queensland required remediation with Xypex products to ensure long term durability of the structure and the concrete. The bridge spans the North Pine River on the Mt Sampson Rd in Dayboro in Queensland.

Concrete remediation was required and involved the removal and replacement of concrete that exhibited excessive settlement shrinkage cracking.

The remediation process required the top 100mm of the concrete to be scabbled back 20mm past the steel reinforcement. Xypex Concentrate was applied to the existing concrete to instigate crystalline growth and to provide a passive barrier protection for the steel.

Xypex Admix C1000NF was dosed at 1.0% into 100 cubic metres of 40mpa concrete as a topping for additional protection against the elements and to reduce future maintenance costs.
